L&F is the sponsor of the Bishorn 2013 energy summit
Out of conviction and enthusiasm for probably the world’s highest location for a pellet central heating system, 47 representatives of the pellet sector from 9 countries struggled up from Zinal in the canton of Valais (1650 metres above sea level) to the newly erected mountain hut, the Cabane de Tracuit (3256 metres above sea level), between 4th and 8th September 2013. The group of entrepreneurs, engineers and businesspersons brought along as a gift 2 years' worth of fuel for running the hut.
Ten mountain guides accompanied the bunch of climbers over the western Tracuit glacier to the flag parade on the Bishorn at more than 4153 metres above sea level. The initiator Markus Mann from Langenbach called for the extraordinary event including head torch, crampons, rope and ice pick. The aims of the energy summit were firstly publicly spreading the message of wood pellets as an alternative energy source with a neutral impact on the climate: "pellets work almost everywhere and are locally available" and secondly professional exchange among pellet producers, machine and vehicle constructors, contracting companies, association chairpersons and pellet merchants. The topic of discussion and talks was above all the future of wood pellets as a fuel and their technical and economic challenges.
